INB 7: Recommendations for a WHO Pandemic Accord

Ahead of INB 7, Action for Animal Health has made recommendations for the content of a new World Health Organization pandemic accord.

The coalition has urged member states to make One Health, and obligations to prevent of spill-over of pathogens from animals to people, front and centre of the accord.

The recommendations state that prevention of spill-over represents the most cost-effective way to prevent another pandemic.

Animal health systems are critical to the prevention of disease, the early detection of pathogens, reporting, control, and prevention of spread. But many remain under resourced, putting people and animals at risk of the impact of diseases with pandemic potential as well as anti-microbial resistance.
